Code in plain words

Code is the instructions for a computer that websites and apps are made of. Vibe coding means you describe in plain words what you want, and AI writes that code. You look at the result and say what to fix. Then repeat. The term was coined in February 2025 by Andrej Karpathy, a well-known AI researcher.

You produce, AI codes

A producer doesn't play every instrument but decides what the track will be. Same here. Your job: decide what you're building, check that it works and choose what's next. AI's job: write and fix the code. You don't have to write every line yourself. But understanding what's going on helps a lot: you'll spot faster where the AI got it wrong.

AI makes mistakes too

AI-written code often works on the first try, but not always. A button may not respond, the layout may break on a phone, or data may disappear. So test it yourself: click every button, open it on your phone, type in weird values. Found a problem? Describe it to the AI in words. Not a bug, a feature of the process: testing is your main job.

What you can build

A landing page, meaning a one-page website. A Telegram bot: a program that replies in a Telegram chat. Also a calculator, a mini game, a habit tracker and a portfolio of your work. To start you only need a browser and a free account in an AI tool. Free plans have limits, but they are usually enough for your first projects.
